A polymer thickener. It stabilizes the formula and gives a smooth texture. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A functional thickener. Safe.
PEG-14M is a high-molecular-weight polymer used as a thickener. It raises the viscosity of the water phase, stabilises the formula and gives a smooth, pleasant texture that applies without greasiness. This is a functional texture ingredient, not a skincare active. It does not fix wrinkles or pigment; its use is to add body, suspend ingredients and improve the slip of the product. The thickening role is well established in formulation. Applied topically there is no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy potential, compatible with sensitive skin. It is an inert polymer with no fragrance or reactive groups, so skin reactions are unlikely even on reactive skin.

The Evigrade extension adds an evidence panel to iHerb, Sephora, Druni and 12 more stores. This ingredient and every other one in the product show evidence-tier, allergen risk and pregnancy/lactation flags at a glance.
PEG-14M is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
