Heptyl Glucoside (INCI: Heptyl Glucoside) is a non-ionic alkyl glucoside surfactant made from sugar and a short fatty alcohol. It cleanses gently, helps disperse other ingredients and can improve how the formula penetrates. It appears in cleansers, serums and emulsions. On efficacy it is a functional component, not a skincare active. It provides gentle cleansing and formula stability, but it does not treat the skin on its own. Its role is that of a solid base ingredient. For topical use it has no systemic relevance and can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good. It is a mild surfactant, with low irritation potential and low allergy risk, which makes it suitable for sensitive skin. Thanks to its gentle nature, it rarely dries the skin, even in cleansers used often.
