The soothing action of lavender is more often linked to an aromatherapy effect than to a skincare result on skin, so it is primarily a fragrancing botanical component. Allergenicity. Lavender contains linalool and linalyl acetate, which are counted among potential fragrance contact allergens. A reaction is possible in sensitized people; most do not react. Pregnancy safety. Topical use is systemically negligible, with no evidence of harm, but with sensitivity to essential oils it is best introduced cautiously.
