It is a functional cleansing component, not a treatment active. Its real edge over classic surfactants is that it strips fewer of the skin's own lipids, so it cleanses without leaving tightness. It is a solid pick for gentle formulas. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is very good: it is an ultra-mild surfactant with low irritation and allergy risk. It suits sensitive and reactive skin and does not dry out the way harsher cleansers do.
