In cleansers it acts as a mild co-surfactant: it cleans gently and leaves a protein film that reduces the feeling of tightness. This is a functional ingredient, a cleansing surfactant, not a care active. Its value is in making cleansing kinder and improving the feel after rinsing. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Good tolerance: its profile is ultra mild, with low risk of irritation and allergy, suitable for sensitive skin. Because it is gentle it rarely dries the skin, unlike harsher surfactants.
