It cleanses skin by gently lifting dirt and oil, without destabilising the barrier as much as classic sulphates do. On efficacy, place it precisely: it is a functional component, specifically a cleansing surfactant, not a care active. Its value is gentle cleansing and leaving skin comfortable. As an ultra-mild surfactant it does that job well in gels and washes for delicate skin. For pregnancy and breastfeeding there is no restriction. It rinses off with water and its systemic impact is nil, so it can be used. Tolerance is high. Irritation and allergy are low, and its ultra-mild profile suits sensitive skin. It does not dry out skin like strong surfactants, though any cleanser is best rinsed well and followed with moisture.
