It cleanses gently and gives a creamy foam, so it is common in gels and cleansers aimed at sensitive or reactive skin. As a surfactant it is a functional cleansing ingredient, not a skincare active. Its value lies in cleansing while respecting the skin barrier, without the harsh degreasing of classic surfactants. It does not hydrate or repair on its own. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is very good. This is an ultra-mild surfactant with low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. It dries the skin far less than a sulfate, which helps keep skin comfortable after washing.
