Trisodium EDTA (INCI Trisodium EDTA) is a chelating agent. Its job in the formula is to capture trace metal ions, such as iron or copper, that would otherwise speed oxidation and degrade the product. In doing so it improves stability and helps the preservation system work better. This is a functional component, not a skincare active. It does not act on the skin or give a direct cosmetic benefit; its role is to protect the formula from within and extend shelf life. It is used at very low concentrations. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it is compatible with pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation and low allergy risk. At usual working concentrations it rarely causes discomfort and tends to go unnoticed by the skin.
