Vanilla Tahitensis Fruit Extract is an extract from the fruit of Tahitian vanilla. Cosmetics include it mainly for its soft, warm aroma, in balms, body creams and lip products. It brings an olfactory profile and a touch of plant antioxidants. This is a mainly sensory, supporting component, not an active with a proven effect. The extract holds antioxidant compounds, but at use levels its real role is scent. If you are after an anti-ageing or repair benefit, this is not the ingredient that delivers it. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. For tolerability the irritation potential is low, but the allergy potential is medium. Vanilla components such as vanillin can cause contact allergy in already sensitised people. Most people have no reaction, but anyone with reactive skin or a known fragrance allergy should patch-test it first on a small area.
