CI 15510, known as Orange 4 (INCI CI 15510), is an orange cosmetic colorant, sometimes in lake form. Its only function is to add color to a product, mainly in makeup, at very low levels. It does not take part in skin care. In terms of treatment efficacy there is nothing to rate: it is a decorative agent, not an active. It is permitted in cosmetics in the European Union within the set limits. Systemic exposure from topical use is negligible, so it can be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding. On tolerance, let's be clear: irritation risk is low, but allergy potential is medium. Most people do not react, though on skin already sensitized to dyes a reaction can appear. Anyone with a history of allergy to cosmetic dyes should watch for a reaction or patch test first.
