Yellow 11 (INCI CI 47000) is an oil-soluble yellow cosmetic colorant from the quinophthalone group. It gives the formula a shade and is used mainly in oil-soluble makeup: lipsticks, shadows and color products. It has no role in skincare. This is a decorative, functional component, not an active. It only colors; it does not hydrate or treat. What it offers is tint, not a skin effect. Applied topically it is not meaningfully absorbed systemically, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without issue. Irritation potential is low and allergy potential is medium: in people sensitized to dyes a contact reaction can appear, though for most it does not. If your skin tends to react to dyes, patch-test a small area first. It is not comedogenic by the available data.
