CI 61570 is a synthetic anthraquinone dye, also known as Acid Green 25 and D&C Green No. 5. The five-digit CI index is a number from the international Colour Index catalogue. INCI: CI 61570. In a formula it has one job – to color the product green. The dye does not act on skin; it is added to the formula for appearance. Concentrations are very low. In the EU, cosmetic colorants are regulated by Annex IV of Regulation 1223/2009, which lists allowed product categories and limits for each colorant; CI 61570 is on that list. Pregnancy safety. The dye is used in trace amounts, systemic absorption is negligible, and there are no teratogenicity data of concern. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance.
