In hair products it acts as a conditioner: its positive charge binds to the hair fiber, eases detangling, reduces frizz and leaves a softer feel. This is a functional ingredient, not a skincare active. Its work is sensory and about hair manageability; it has no effect on wrinkles or deep skin hydration. In topical use it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Irritation and allergy potential are low, which makes it suitable for sensitive scalp and skin. Residual acrylamide monomer in the finished polymer is regulated to very low levels, so the final product is considered safe. Most people tolerate it without discomfort.
