Behentrimonium Methosulfate is a cationic surfactant, a conditioner based on behenic acid. INCI: Behentrimonium Methosulfate. Despite the word in the name, it is not an aggressive sulfate cleanser but a mild methosulfate quaternium. In a formula it works as a conditioning agent and co-emulsifier: it smooths the surface, removes static, eases hair combing, and gives skin softness. It appears most often in conditioners and hair creams. Pregnancy safety. Systemic absorption through intact skin is low and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. One of the mildest quaterniums, with low irritation and allergen potential, suitable for sensitive skin.
