Silicone Quaternium-22 is a cationic silicone conditioner carrying a betaine group. Its INCI name is Silicone Quaternium-22. In a formula it attaches to the surface and forms a thin film that smooths the feel and helps hold water in the stratum corneum. This is a functional finishing ingredient, not a treatment active. It improves the sensory feel and gives a surface humectant effect, but it does not correct structural skin concerns. Used topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It tolerates well: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. Most people see no reaction.
