It works as a humectant and conditioning agent: the light hydration and silky feel are real, but do not expect effects on wrinkles or pigment. Useful as a pleasant add-on within a moisturising formula. Applied topically there is no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin.
