Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A hydrating plant extract. Safe.
Beta Vulgaris Root Extract (beet root extract) supplies betaine and natural sugars. In a formula it works as a mild humectant: betaine draws and holds water in the stratum corneum and helps keep the skin feeling comfortable. On efficacy it is a supporting component, not a transformative active. The hydration it gives is genuine but light, handy for reinforcing the water phase of a cream or serum. There is no solid basis for anti-aging or brightening claims, so it is fairer to present it as an auxiliary humectant. Topical systemic uptake is negligible, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. It has no meaningful comedogenic profile, so it fits almost any skin type.
