INCI: Lens Esculenta Fruit Extract

Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A hydrating plant extract. Safe.
Lens Esculenta Fruit Extract (lentil extract) supplies sugars and amino acids. In a formula it works as a mild humectant: it helps retain water at the surface and smooths the feel of skin texture, leaving the skin softer to the touch. As an active it is a supporting component. The hydration is light, and the effect on texture is mostly sensory and immediate rather than a structural correction. Some lentil-based raw materials are marketed for pores, but independent evidence is modest, so it is fairer to present it as an auxiliary humectant. Topically the systemic contribution is negligible, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy, suitable for sensitive skin. It has no meaningful comedogenic profile, so it suits oily or combination skin that wants weightless hydration.
