It does not protect the skin from the sun; its job is to absorb ultraviolet radiation inside the packaging so that actives, pigments and oils don't degrade or shift color in light. On efficacy: a purely functional ingredient, not a skincare active. It improves product stability and color retention, which matters for formula quality, but offers no direct skin benefit. Don't confuse it with a sunscreen filter for the skin. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is fine for topical products; it's used at very low levels. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. Not comedogenic at typical concentrations. Suitable for sensitive skin.
