In cosmetics it plays a technical role: it thickens, adds body, and stabilizes the formula, and in powder masks it helps a firm texture set when mixed with water. At use doses it does not act on the skin. This is a functional component, not a skincare active. It does not hydrate, soothe, or treat any condition; it provides structure. The product's effectiveness is judged by its actives, not by this mineral salt. For topical use there is no systemic risk. It can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential, fine for sensitive skin. The component is non-comedogenic. With setting masks it is better to remove them before they harden too much, for comfort rather than safety.
