A soothing plant extract. Safe.
Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract is a botanical extract from the Chrysanthellum indicum plant, common in products for reactive, redness-prone skin. It carries flavonoids and is added for a soothing effect and a reputation for supporting the tone of small skin vessels. On effectiveness it is worth being straight. There is a tradition of use and a few small studies in couperose and rosacea, but the evidence base is modest. It acts as a supporting component inside soothing formulas, not as a strong, proven active. When a cream reduces redness, the whole formula usually deserves the credit. Applied topically the extract has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerability is good: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. As with any botanical extract, someone already sensitised to this plant could react, though most people will not.
