About this ingredient
Coco-Glucoside is a non-ionic "green" surfactant from coconut-oil fatty alcohols and corn-starch glucose. One of the mildest cosmetic surfactants, biodegradable. Ecocert and Cosmos certified. A base surfactant in organic and eco cosmetics. Where applied. Shampoos, shower gels, facial washes, intimate hygiene products, baby cosmetics. Concentration 5-30%. In Spain – Mádara, Weleda, Cattier, Freshly Cosmetics, Babé Pediátrico, La Roche-Posay Toleriane Caring Wash. Mechanism. Very gentle non-ionic action – does not disrupt the stratum corneum lipid matrix, does not cause dryness, suits sensitive and atopic skin. Creates a mild creamy foam with low foaming ability (a plus for eco consumers, a minus for those used to dense foam). Evidence base. Functional surfactant. No direct clinical efficacy. Studies (Klein 2007) put mildness on par with CAPB. Suitable for atopic, eczema, rosacea patients. Safety. CIR/SCCS confirm safety at cosmetic concentrations. Hypoallergenic, non-sensitizing. Allergic reactions extremely rare. Non-comedogenic. Pregnancy and lactation – safe. Acceptable at any stage. One of the "cleanest" surfactants for pregnant patients.
