In a formula it works as a waxy emollient and structuring agent: it gives creams and sticks body, stabilizes the emulsion, and softens skin. It is used in rich creams, balms, and solid formats. It is stable and resistant to oxidation. Pregnancy safety. Systemic absorption through intact skin is negligible and there are no teratogenicity data of concern. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin.
