In a formula it works as a humectant with a leaning toward mature-skin care, adding hydration and a feel of more firmness. On efficacy it pays to stay sober. Soy isoflavones have an interesting experimental basis as antioxidants and mild phytoestrogens, but solid topical clinical evidence is limited and concentration-dependent. It is a reasonable supporting active, not a replacement for retinoids or vitamin C against photoaging.
