A hydrating plant extract. Safe.
Soybean sprout extract (INCI: Glycine Soja Sprout Extract) is a botanical rich in isoflavones, peptides and sugars. In a formula it works as a humectant with a leaning toward mature-skin care, adding hydration and a feel of more firmness. On efficacy it pays to stay sober. Soy isoflavones have an interesting experimental basis as antioxidants and mild phytoestrogens, but solid topical clinical evidence is limited and concentration-dependent. It is a reasonable supporting active, not a replacement for retinoids or vitamin C against photoaging. Topically there is no meaningful systemic passage, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. Anyone with a known soy allergy should keep it in mind, though the cosmetic route carries small risk.
