Hydrogenated Microcrystalline Wax is a mineral wax, refined and hydrogenated for extra stability. In cosmetics it thickens the oil phase, raises the product's melting point and helps a stick hold its shape. It is typical in lip sticks, solid deodorants and balms. Its role is structural, not caring. This is a functional formula component: it brings firmness, body and heat resistance, but it does not treat skin. It also leaves an occlusive film that slightly cuts water loss, a real if limited emollient effect. Applied topically it does not meaningfully penetrate and has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerability is good, with low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. Comedogenicity is very low (1 of 5), so it rarely causes trouble even on oily skin.
