Its job in a formula is clearly functional: it gives light slip, softens the skin and leaves a silky finish with no greasy film. It also works as a carrier for dispersing pigments and oil-soluble actives. It is not a skincare active but a texture ingredient. It does not treat wrinkles, pigmentation or inflammation; it improves how the product feels and spreads. In that role it performs reliably. Given its emollient nature and lack of meaningful systemic absorption, it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high, with low irritation and allergy potential. Comedogenicity is very low (1 of 5), so very oily or acne-prone skin may want to judge it within the whole formula, though individual risk is small.
