Isostearyl neopentanoate (INCI Isostearyl Neopentanoate) is a synthetic emollient ester. In a formula it softens skin and gives a dry, light slip without the greasy film that some oils leave behind. It is common in silky-feel creams and makeup. Its role is texture support, not treatment. It improves the feel and spreadability of a product, but it does not act on wrinkles, pigment or inflammation. As an emollient it performs well and claims nothing more. Systemic exposure from topical use is minimal, so it can be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy risk are low, suitable for sensitive skin. Its comedogenicity is moderate-low (2 out of 5), so very oily or acne-prone skin should watch how it responds. It does not dry the skin.
