Laureth-10 (INCI: Laureth-10) is a non-ionic surfactant and solubilizer. Its job is to clean by lifting dirt and oil, and to dissolve oils and fragrances in a water base so the formula stays clear and uniform. It appears in cleansers, gels, micellar waters, and shampoos. This is a functional component, not a skincare active. It does not treat the skin; it gives the formula cleansing and clarity. Its performance is judged by how it cleans and stabilizes, not by a corrective effect. For topical use there is no relevant systemic risk. It can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Overall tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. Its harshness is moderate: like any cleansing surfactant, on dry or sensitive skin very frequent use can feel somewhat degreasing. In well-balanced formulas with mild co-surfactants the effect stays comfortable. It is not noted as comedogenic.
