Maltooligosyl glucoside (INCI Maltooligosyl Glucoside) is a sugar-based humectant obtained from plant carbohydrates. In formulas it draws and holds water in the surface layer of the skin and leaves a smooth, comfortable feel. On efficacy this is a functional hydrating component. It does its job of keeping skin moisturized and soft well, with no claim to being a corrective active: it does not act on wrinkles or tone. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is very high: low irritation and allergy potential, a good option for sensitive, dehydrated skin or skin that reacts to more complex formulas. No worrying comedogenic profile.
