Glucuronic acid (INCI Glucuronic Acid) is a sugar-derived acid and one of the building blocks of hyaluronic acid. In a formula it works as a humectant: it draws water to the skin's surface layer and helps hold hydration. This is a support humectant component, not a corrective active. As a small molecule it retains water but does not plump or firm the way high-weight hyaluronic acid would. Useful within a hydrating blend, without expecting corrective effects on its own. Applied topically it is not systemically relevant, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without issue. Tolerability is good. Irritation and allergy potential are both low, suitable for sensitive skin. There is no data on relevant comedogenicity.
