Octyldodecyl Xyloside is a sugar-derived (xylose) co-emulsifier usually paired with its PEG counterpart to stabilize emulsions. In creams and lotions it binds water and oil and leaves a soft, pleasant texture. This is a functional formulation ingredient, not a skincare active. On its own it does not hydrate or treat signs of aging; its role is to give the emulsion structure and sensory feel. For topical use it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential.
