A gentle plant exfoliant and absorbent. Safe.
Rice hull powder (INCI: Oryza Sativa Hull Powder) is made by grinding the outer layer of the grain. In formulas it works as a physical agent: it exfoliates gently through mechanical friction, absorbs sebum and gives a matte finish, useful in masks, scrubs and powders. This is a functional texture and mechanical-exfoliation component, not a bioactive. Its effect is direct and predictable on the surface, but it does not penetrate or act at a cellular level on wrinkles or spots. Applied topically it has no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy risk. As a physical exfoliant, use it without excessive pressure: hard rubbing can bother sensitive or reactive skin, although the rice particle is usually fairly soft.
