It gives a soft powdery texture, absorbs excess oil and adds body to the formula. It is a functional component, not a treatment active. Its role is sensory and structural: it mattifies, improves slip and structures products like powders, masks or bases. It does not act on skin processes, so it is not a care ingredient in the strict sense. It is inert and has no systemic uptake topically, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
