PEG-20 (INCI: PEG-20) is a versatile polyethylene glycol. In formulas it holds water, helps dissolve actives and adjusts texture, giving products that are more uniform and pleasant to apply. This is a functional component, not a skincare active. It gives light moisturization through its ability to attract water, but its main role is support: a base humectant, a co-solvent and a texture regulator. No treatment effect beyond that should be assigned to it. It is an inert ingredient and has no systemic relevance when applied topically, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation potential and low allergy risk, suitable for sensitive skin. At usual concentrations it does not dry or clog pores. As with the PEG family, the feel on skin depends on the whole formula rather than on this single ingredient.
