In cleansers it helps stabilise foam, give the formula body and soften the action of the main surfactants so cleansing is less harsh. On efficacy, place it precisely: it is a functional formula component, not a care active. Its value is in foam texture and gentler cleansing, not a visible effect on skin. In that role it performs reliably. For pregnancy and breastfeeding there is no restriction. It rinses off with water and the systemic impact is negligible, so it can be used. Tolerance is good. Irritation and allergy are low, and its mild profile is compatible with sensitive skin. As a moderate co-surfactant it lowers the harshness of the formula, though any cleanser is best followed with moisture if your skin tends to tightness.
