Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate is a nonionic emulsifier based on polyglycerin and polyhydroxystearic acid. INCI: Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate. In a formula it holds water-in-oil emulsions: it binds the water and oil phases of rich creams and balms so they do not separate. It is a functional component, not a skincare active. It has no action on skin of its own and is responsible for the structure and stability of the formula. Pregnancy safety. The molecule is large, barely penetrates intact skin, and systemic absorption is negligible. No evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin.
