Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate is an anionic surfactant. INCI: Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate. In a formula it works as a cleansing and foaming agent: it gives abundant foam, removes oil and dirt well, and is inexpensive and effective. It is a functional cleansing surfactant. In strength it is close to lauryl sulfates and can be drying with frequent use, so it is softened with amphoteric co-surfactants. Pregnancy safety. The product rinses off, systemic absorption is negligible, and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation potential is moderate and depends on concentration. Dry and sensitive skin should look at the mildness of the whole cleansing base.
