It makes the films in a formula more flexible and less brittle, especially in nail polishes and long-wear makeup. It can also act as a solvent for other ingredients. Its role is functional, not care. It improves the durability and finish of the product, but it does not act on the skin as an active. Do not expect hydration or treatment benefits from it. For topical use it has no systemic relevance and can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation potential and low allergy risk. It suits sensitive skin. Since it appears mostly in nail and color products, skin contact is usually brief, which lowers any risk further.
