About this ingredient
Triisostearin is a triester of glycerin and isostearic acid, a rich emollient. INCI: Triisostearin. In a formula it works as a rich emollient and oil-phase component: it softens skin, gives an enveloping firm texture, and helps dissolve and spread oils, pigments, and oily actives. Its branched structure makes it oxidation-stable. It is a functional sensory component, not a skincare active, common in color cosmetics and rich products. Pregnancy safety. Systemic absorption through intact skin is low and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, but rich emollients are introduced more cautiously on oily, acne-prone skin.
