CI 45410, known as Red 27, is a synthetic cosmetic dye from the xanthene group (INCI: CI 45410). It gives the formula deep red and pink shades. It shows up mostly in lipsticks, blushes, nail polishes and color makeup. On efficacy, this is a functional decorative component, not a skincare active. It provides color and does not act on skin physiology. Its role is purely cosmetic, so do not expect any barrier or hydration benefit from it. For topical use, systemic exposure is low and it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. General tolerance is good and irritation potential is low, but allergy risk is medium: people already sensitized to dyes may get a contact reaction, especially on the lips. Most people have no trouble with it. If you notice stinging or redness after a deeply red product, it is worth reviewing the formula.
