It is a functional texture-and-emollient component, not a treatment active. It corrects neither wrinkles nor dark spots: its value lies in feel and in structuring the formula. It does that role well and gives a more cushioned feel than lighter esters. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
