This is a functional ingredient, not a skincare active. Its role is in product structure and feel: it provides viscosity, sensory stability, and controlled slip. It does not correct skin signs, and that effect should not be expected of it. It stays on the skin surface with no meaningful systemic absorption, so its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is fine. Tolerance is good: low irritation potential and low allergy risk, valid for sensitive skin. Comedogenicity is low (1), so it generally poses no problem, though in very rich formulas and on oily skin it is always worth watching the whole composition.
