A nourishing plant oil. Safe.
Sesame seed oil is pressed from Sesamum indicum. INCI: Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil. It is a plant oil rich in linoleic and oleic acids and natural antioxidants (sesamol, vitamin E), resistant to oxidation. In a formula it works as an emollient and barrier-support component: it softens skin, reduces water loss, and gives a nourished feel. The linoleic part is related to barrier lipids, so the oil makes sense for dry skin. Its standalone clinical effect is modest. Pregnancy safety. Topical use is systemically negligible, with no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, suitable for dry and sensitive skin.
