Ethylhexyl triazone (same INCI) is a highly photostable UVB filter, approved for cosmetics in the EU. It absorbs short-wave ultraviolet radiation very efficiently, so it delivers strong protection even at low levels. On efficacy, it is one of the most powerful and stable UVB filters available. It holds its capacity under the sun longer than older filters. It covers UVB, so it is combined with UVA filters for broad-spectrum protection. During pregnancy and breastfeeding it can be used. It is a large, poorly soluble molecule with very low systemic absorption when applied topically. Tolerance is good: low irritation and low allergy potential, suitable for most skin types, including sensitive. An individual reaction is possible but uncommon.
