Its role is structural: it thickens the oil phase, gives body to sticks and balms and helps the formula keep its shape. It also leaves a light emollient finish. This is a functional ingredient, a texture agent, not a care active. It does not treat wrinkles, pigment or acne; its job is consistency and product stability. Topically it has no systemic impact, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. High tolerance: low risk of irritation and allergy, suitable for sensitive skin. Its comedogenicity is very low (1 of 5), so it rarely poses a problem, even on combination skin.
