A soothing plant extract. Safe.
Sunflower seed extract (INCI: Helianthus Annuus Seed Extract) is obtained from sunflower seeds. It brings a fraction of antioxidants, mainly tocopherols, along with soothing compounds. In a formula it helps deliver a feeling of comfort and supports the skin barrier. This is a functional supporting ingredient, not a treatment active. As a background antioxidant it aids formula stability and a mild softening effect, but it does not replace a vitamin C or a retinoid. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Good tolerance: low irritation and allergy potential, fine for sensitive skin. It adds no appreciable oily load.
