This is a functional component with sensory and emollient value. It improves product texture and the feel on skin, and its film adds a sense of comfort. It is not a treatment active, but it fills the emollient role well. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation potential and low allergy risk, suitable for sensitive skin. It has a mild comedogenicity of level 2, so oily or acne-prone skin should keep it in mind, especially in rich formulas. On normal or dry skin it usually causes no trouble and adds comfort.
