Mechanism. Antioxidant action via free radical neutralization. Mild brightening effect via tyrosinase suppression in vitro. Where applied. Korean brightening serums and toners, products in sensitive-skin lines. Rare in Europe. Concentration 0.5–3%. Evidence base. Virtually no human clinical RCTs; evidence is in vitro and folkloric. CIR has not published a separate assessment. Pregnancy and lactation – topically safe at cosmetic concentrations. Hypoallergenic.
