In a formula it stabilizes emulsions (often water-in-silicone) and lends a fluid, smooth texture to creams and bases. This is a functional ingredient, not a skincare active. Its job is to hold the phases together and give a light feel; it does not act on wrinkles, dark spots or acne. On the label it has a technical, structural role.
