PEG/PPG-17/18 Dimethicone (INCI: PEG/PPG-17/18 Dimethicone) is a silicone-based emulsifier. It binds the oil and water phases, stabilizes creams that mix water and oil, and leaves a smooth, silky finish on skin. This is a functional ingredient, not a skincare active. It handles sensory feel and holds the emulsion together, but does not treat wrinkles, pigment or redness. Its value sits in the structure of the formula. Because of its topical use and lack of meaningful systemic uptake, it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without restriction. Tolerance is very good. Irritation and allergy risk are both low, and it stays comfortable on sensitive skin. Most skin carries it without trouble.
